Severe storms moving into the area. There are reports of tornado sirens, large hail and funnel clouds being sighted in the Michiana area.

Major delays and cancellations halted evening travel. Every Delta and United Airlines flight in and out of South Bend after 7 p.m. was impacted, not only because of the weather here, but also at major hubs like Chicago O’Hare and Detroit Wayne metro Airports.

At this time all morning arrivals and departures are still on time. Of course call your airline before heading to the airport for the most up-to-date information.

The storms will create dangerous swimming conditions for Thursday, due to high waves and life-threatening rip currents along the southeast shore of Lake Michigan.

A small craft advisory is also in effect for Thursday due to dangerous pounding waves, which are expected to last through Friday.

Notre Dame students were taken to shelters on campus because of the strong storms.
