A South Bend man has been charged with the death of a former Washington High School student that was killed February 26, 2012.
18-year-old Christopher Simril died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was allegedly shot at Walker Park on West Ewing Avenue.
Friday, a murder charge was filed against Tyree Justin Scott. Scott is currently in custody and being held without bond.
Simril was found unconscious, lying on the ground at the park. Witnesses say they saw a group of young males running from the scene.
Police say Simril was meeting a group of men for a drug transaction. They say the group went to the park with the intention to rob Simril. Scott and a group of other teens reportedly approached Simril, demanding for something, and Simril said he "didn't have it." Scott reportedly fired several shots at Simril.
The investigation remains ongoing.
