Scam targets voters ahead of early voting
As early and absentee voting gets underway in Indiana, the Secretary of State’s office warns Hoosiers of a phone scam targeting voters.
A group called Vote USA has been running a scam across Indiana, according to the Pulaski Journal. The caller tells people they can vote by calling the number (425) 390-8108.
Anyone receiving this call should hang up immediately and not dial the number. Voting by phone is not an option in Indiana.
More legitimate methods of voting do begin Monday though, with early voting setting off in St. Joseph County. Absentee ballots can be cast across Indiana, as early as Tuesday.
Tuesday is also the final day to register to vote. Registration is open at any Secretary of State office in Michigan, as well as the BMV or any local clerk’s office in Indiana.
Indiana and Michigan voters can also register by mail. Just be sure to postmark the registration forms by October 9th.
