South Bend Messages about what "perfect" looks like continue to circulate, resulting in negative self-image.
That's why a group of students at Saint Mary’s College is hosting "Love Your Body Week" and this year’s theme is "Be Brave Enough to be Yourself".
All week long students will be able to attend events and listen to speakers all meant to encourage women, and men, to see themselves in a positive light. Two of those events are open to the public.
One of the events the public can attend is Monday, February 24th. Christina Grasso will talk about her person battle with anorexia. Grasso is now a freelance fashion writer. She also works for the New York City chapter of Project Heal, a non-profit that promotes the awareness of eating disorders. In addition she speaks at middle schools, high schools, and colleges across the country.
Then, on Tuesday, February 25th Wendy Odour will speak about defining beauty from a biblical perspective. Odour is a South Bend resident who attended John Adams High School. She will co-present with University of Notre Dame sophomore Peace Maari.
