Safety fair held at the Cove Sunday

As the bikes hit the streets, a safety fair kicked off right outside the Cove.

The Saving Lives Safety Fair included car seat checks, and reminders about not leaving kids or pets inside the car during the summer.

A thermometer shows the inside of a car reaching 145 degrees. Plus, the South Bend Fire Department joined in, bringing out their smokehouse.

“The Trauma Center has free car seat checks throughout the year, all you have to do is check out the quality of life website and find classes for all that you would need throughout the summer,” says Maggie Scroope from Memorial Hospital.

There was also an emphasis on helmet safety, with a BMX show demonstrating just how important wearing the right helmet is.
