The president of the South Bend Community School Board wants another four-year term.
Friday morning, Roger Parent filed papers for re-election as one of the school corporation's trustees.
In the last three and a half years, five new members have been elected to the South Bend School Board and a new superintendent was hired.
Parent said it's important to be innovative and move forward, away from styles of teaching implemented 30 years ago.
“I look forward to maybe even having a group of teachers run a school,” he said. “I think we have to think outside the box, maybe even much more than we have and we've done a good job at that.”
Parent said a variety of other initiatives to improve instruction and management are being discussed or are in the planning stages.
