Road construction resumes after holiday weekend

After a long holiday weekend, several summer road construction projects begin Monday July 8.

US-20 will be closed between State Road 2 and New Carlisle through the end of the day on Tuesday, July 9. Crews will chip and fog seal, processes used to protect and preserve roadways. As a detour, drivers traveling eastbound on US-20 will be detoured east on SR 2 and back to U.S. 20 by way of the St. Joseph Valley Parkway. Drivers wishing to travel westbound on U.S. 20 will be detoured east on U.S. 20, south/east on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway, west on SR 2, and back to U.S. 20.

Beginning Monday, the southbound lane on Twyckenham Drive will be restricted from Vaness Street for approximately 1,500 feet north. Crews will work on the Hawk pedestrian signal on the west side of the road. The restriction will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for 10 days, weather permitting.

The Nimtz Parkway Bridge, over U.S. 31, will be closed Monday through fall of 2013 while crews rehabilitate the bridge.
