Riot broke out Wednesday at Westville Correctional Facility

LaPorte County, Ind. A riot between rival gang members locked down the Westville Correctional Facility Wednesday.

The Northwest Indiana Times reports, the altercation started between a few inmates and escalated to include about 100.

About a dozen inmates at the LaPorte County Prison were injured, and two had to be taken out of the facility for treatment.

Most injuries were bruises and cuts, from being hit with blunt objects. Security was able to quickly bring things under control and no prison staff was hurt.

Prison spokesperson Sharon Hawk says they are still investigating what sparked the riot, but some of those involved will be disciplined.
