Dozens of teams will be competing this weekend for the title of Ribs Cook-Off Champion.
The annual Ribs Cook-Off is a tasty part of enshrinement weekend.
Many of the rib chefs were out early Friday morning around 4 a.m. getting their cookers and smokers ready for the competition which is now a national event.
You can sample ribs from 9 professional teams.
Ten amateur teams will also be cooking for the panel of celebrity judges including South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Notre Dame Vice President for Public Afffairs, Tim Sexton.
For some taking part, it's serious competition, and a way to help others.
“What we decided to do is to take all of our proceeds and send those actually to a charity,” said Tim McLaughlin, a competitor. “Chef Kipp Peters and Culver, our owner, decide what charities will get the proceeds.”
Rib samples and full platters will be available for purchase.
The Ribs Cook-Off and festival goes until 11 p.m. Friday night.
