A Michigan restaurant is going the extra mile on Saturday to raise awareness for veterans' needs.
Cafe Tuscany in union pier held a special benefit for homeless veterans today.
From the grilled food to the cold drinks, all the proceeds are going to this special cause.
The owner of the restaurant, Dan Griffin, said it's his own experience at a VA. hospital that inspired him to organize this event.
“About three years ago, I had some medical problems, I didn’t have insurance so I went to the V.A. once you go to the V.A. you see the suffering that’s going on and that’s what turned me on to this,” he said.
Adding, “People are just not aware of what the veterans have gone through unless you go there.”
Griffin said he plans on hosting another benefit next month for wounded warriors.
