Monday in Watervliet, residents came together to show their support for an officer who they said has been treated unfairly by the city.

About a dozen people gathered at the Plymouth Congregational Church in support of Officer Scott Richcreek.

Richcreek has served the city as a full-time police officer for 27 years, and was also the dare instructor for 18 years.

These supporters said he was forced to resign under questionable circumstances.

The city then brought him back onto the force, but only part time.

But these supporters say Richcreek deserves more.

“I've known Richcreek for many years,” said Richard Roberts who attended the event. “He's a fine gentleman, firefighter, police officer…. when someone calls him to ask assistance or questions on something, he does the best he can."

"I have nothing else to say except I want him back,” exclaimed Maria Bale, who organized the event. “And the city of Watervliet, we all want him back. That's it. I said it all.”

Officer Richcreek was not there and the city did not respond to Newscenter 16's requests for comment.
