Registration begins Friday for an annual race that aims to bridge the gap between Notre Dame and South Bend.
The Holy Half Marathon is the only half marathon on the campus of the university, and is entirely student run and organized. Community members and students are invited to take part.
Last year, the 13.1 mile race raised over $30,000 for the Family Justice Center and the Women's Care Center, two not-profit organizations in St. Joseph County.
This year, two other foundations will benefit.
"Our goal is to raise $40,000 for the Kelly Cares Foundation and Girls on the Run Michiana," said Maria Murphy, a Junior at Notre Dame, and this year's Race Director.
