New Buffalo, Mich. A primary election race in New Buffalo has caused some confusion.
Two council member seats are up for a recall election. The first is current council member Margaret Murray. Donna Messinger and Si-Osiri Si-Osiri are running as opponents. Murray is also currently the appointed mayor but whoever wins this recall election won't necessarily become mayor. The council will appoint someone.
Also up for recall election is current council member Ray Lawson. George Scarlatis is running against him. Lawson is also currently the appointed mayor pro tem but whoever wins this recall election won't necessarily become mayor pro tem. The council will appoint someone.
Both positions are partial terms so they would expire in November of 2016.
