Real Services held their annual drawing Wednesday

Many people often find helping others rewarding, and for some local residents, lending a helping hand really paid off.

Real Services held their 3rd Annual Raffle Drawing Wednesday, and Terry McFadden was there to draw the names of all 45 lucky winners.

Community members bought tickets hoping to win big, many scoring gift cards, cash prizes and rounds of golf. But it was Germaine Wuergler of Granger who walked away with the grand prize, a $25,000 room makeover.

Proceeds from the raffle will help support the organization's Guardianship and Foster Grandparent programs, both of which have received funding cuts.

“There are people we can serve who we wouldn't have been able to serve if we couldn't come up with the funding,” says Director of Development of Real Services, Inc. Bill Odell. “Everybody is a winner because they have supported people who really need our help.”

Odell says the raffle was a huge success, with this year's ticket sales the highest they've seen yet.
