Public safety conducts live fire training in South Bend

"Live fire" training exercises will be conducted at South Bend Airport for members of the St. Joseph County Airport Authority's Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.

The training is going on at the "Live Fire" training facility, located near the northwest corner of the airfield.

The burns and exercises allow Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) to practive their firefighting skills for combatting large, flammable liquid fuel fires. The annual training is also a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirement certificated airports under FAR Part 139.
