South Bend’s transportation system could end up looking a lot more like Portland’s after a study on possible new urban configurations is completed.
The public transportation company, TRANSPO, is funding a study that looks at the possible configurations for urban systems.
The system would be similar to Denver, Colorado’s shuttle buses, or Portland, Oregon’s streetcar loops. The study is expected to be completed sometime this year.
Once it is finished, officials say a decision will be made as to whether or not the project will continue, and how it will be paid for.
