SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The countdown to Christmas is just days away, so if you want your packages to arrive on or before Christmas day, time is running out.
The United States postal service in downtown South Bend had several rushes of people sending mail throughout the day.
Workers have seen an eight percent increase in the number of packages sent and delivered around this time of year.
Representatives suggest that today is the last to send cards and letters.
Saturday is the last recommended day to send any priority mail.
Although the holiday season is busy for postal workers, they do their best to deliver packages in a timely manner.
"Everyone though does an excellent job trying to keep the Christmas spirit,” said Chris Cortier, a USPS customer relations coordinator. “There's a lot of stress this time of year. What we try to do is work with the customers, explain our services and benefits, and get them in and out of here as soon as possible. The post office is usually on your to do list and we realize that."
The USPS will be delivering priority mail express on Christmas day.
