It's obviously important to stay hydrated and cool in this 100 degree heat.
That's exactly what parents and their kids were doing Friday at pools around the city of South Bend and now they can spend even more time there.
The Potawatomi Pool and the Kennedy Water Playground are staying open a little later for those who normally can't make it out there during the day in this heat.
Hundreds of people are expected to take to the water today so the Potawatomi Pool is extending hours from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. While the Kennedy Water Playground extends until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“There is sometimes a lot more people and sometimes there's not - you you never know,” said Paul Mcminn, assistant recreation director at the Parks Department. “Sometimes big groups don't come when it's that hot but usually more people in the community do so it balances out.”
Prices for the Potawatomi Pool are five dollars for adults and four dollars for kids.
