Police warn of changes for Notre Dame game days

South Bend, Ind. Football season is fast approaching, and as we've all seen, there have been quite a few changes to South Bend streets.

That's why area agencies came together Thursday to address new traffic patterns for game days.

Indiana State Police, County Police, South Bend Police and Toll Road Officials were all present to address the multiple roadways available to eager fans, from in and out of town.

One area of concern is the new Eddy Street and South Bend Avenue corridor. Construction is complete near the Five Points Intersection, but the reconfiguration of streets and traffic lights could pose confusion.

South Bend Police are urging folks to map out the area first, instead of relying on technology.

“If you're going by a map or you're going by memory or you're going by GPS, it's simply not going to work,” says South Bend Police Captain Phil Trent. “It's such a radical change, such a big change, such a big difference that it's going to have to be learned."

The police department does utilize a twitter account that will post updates in real time.
