UPDATE: Police investigate shooting at South Bend home

We're following breaking news as police investigate a shooting in South Bend Friday morning.

It happened just after 1:15 a.m. at a home in the 600-hundred block of Walnut.

A 56-year-old man was shot when he found two burglars inside his home, according to police.

The man heard noises coming from his kitchen and decided to go check things out. He found two men attempting to exit the home. One of the men shot at him at least twice with a rifle.

The victim suffered injuries to his right thigh and right arm. Capt. Phil Trent tells Newscenter 16 that the injuries are non-life threatening.

No suspects have been identified at this time.
