Police are investigating how a pregnant women fell out of a car

Police are investigating after a u-turn attempt on a busy South Bend roadway Wednesday evening ended when a pregnant woman somehow fell out of the vehicle.

It happened just after six o'clock, right in the middle of rush hour.

A witness on the scene tell Newscenter 16 that what looked like a green Jeep was heading northbound on State Road 933 approaching Angela, when the driver tried to make a u-turn.

That's when, for an unknown reason, a female passenger who was nine months pregnant fell out of the moving vehicle and into the intersection.

Emergency crews were called to the scene as the driver took off. The woman was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
