For years, the Humane Society of St. Joseph County has invited the public to take part in the pet adoption extravaganza. And it all takes place during National Pet Week.
Just in time for spring, the staff at the shelter are hoping to find all of their animals forever-homes. To encourage adoption, the shelter is offering extended hours and reduced rates, plus several family-friendly activities throughout the week.
The shelter is hosting an annual garage sale Friday through Sunday, May 10-12th, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 8-4 p.m. on Sunday. The center is open from May 3rd-11th from 10 a.m.-7p.m.
On Saturday, May 11th, there will be a spring microchip clinic from noon-3p.m. For $25, animals will get a microchip and registration. Hillbilly Delux BBQ will sell chicken and rib tips at the shelter, plus Bonnie Doons Ice Cream will also be serving up something sweet for those in attendance.
Throughout the week, several area restaurants will also be doing their part to help the animals. Five Guys and Texas Roadhouse are offering discount coupons to help raise funds for the shelter.
