Pedestrian hit by car in Elkhart County

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash involving a passenger car and a pedestrian on C.R. 6, near C.R. 11, around 7:15 Thursday night.

The Elkhart Truth reports the driver of the car was headed east on C.R. 6 when he hit 19-year-old Joseph Fournier of Elkhart. Fournier was alert at the scene and was taken to an Elkhart hospital to be treated for internal injuries and minor bleeding.

The driver, 41-year-old Douglas Buckles of Elkhart, says Fournier was walking in the middle of the right eastbound lane but did not see him until the impact. Buckles said Fournier rolled over the windshield of the vehicle and off the back.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department did not issue any citations.
