Osceola firefighter to be laid to rest Friday

An Osceola firefighter will receive his last call on Friday. He'll be laid to rest after more than 30 years of volunteer service with the department.

Fifty-eight year old Daniel W. Perkins died unexpectedly Monday morning from natural causes. According to his obituary in the Elkhart Truth, he is survived by his wife and two children.

Perkins’ funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Osceola United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation one hour prior to that.

The Osceola Fire Department will stop in front of the fire house for the last call afterward and lead a procession to the Osceola cemetery.

The fire chief has asked that the public steer clear of the intersections of Chestnut and Lincolnway and County Line and Lincolnway at that time.

Memorial contributions are asked to go to the Osceola Fire Department of Osceola United Methodist Church.
