One person is recovering after being shot in the stomach.
Police received a call around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Fox and St. Joseph St. on South Bend's south side.
The 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Police say he is concious and stable. They credit their ability to be on the scene quickly, as a good reason residents of the area should feel safe.
"We don't know whether it's a random act or not. obviously we will be in the area and keep our patrols up in the area," said Lt. Steve Noonan of the South Bend Police. "We had cars in here within a minute so we were relatively close when the call went out."
Police say that the neighborhood is usually a reletively quiet area.
The investigation is ongoing.
