One person is dead and another seriously injured after a crash in LaGrange County on Saturday.
Officers with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on CR 600 in Lima around 9 p.m.
There they found two people thrown from a 1997 Honda Civic. The car also had struck a utility pole.
The driver, Efren Caballaro, 25, had been completely ejected from the vehicle. Officers tried to initiate CPR, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive head injuries.
His passenger, Elkhart resident Hermosa Murray, 23, was found on the ground partially under the car. She was cut from the car and rushed to Parkview Regional Medical Center for possible internal injuries.
Excessive speed has been cited as the cause of the accident. The Department is waiting on toxicology results.
