One man is dead and another injured after an early morning crash on I-94 in Benton Township.
It all happened around 5:30 a.m. when a 41-year-old Benton Harbor man was Eastbound on the highway near Britain Avenue and lost control of his vehicle. Michigan State Police say the driver crossed the median and went into westbound traffic. The vehicle was then struck broadside and pushed into the rear of a Semi-Truck traveling Westbound.
Police say the 41-year-old was thrown from his car during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the multiple vehicle collision.
The driver of the other vehicle suffered only from minor injuries. He was transported to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Michigan state police tell us alcohol does not appear to be a factor but it is unknown if he was wearing his seat belt.
