ELKHART The words "oil spill" always tend to make people nervous, but officials say an oil slick in the Elkhart River isn't anything to worry about.

The slick was at the part of the river located behind the McDonald's on Main Street.

The fire department tells The Elkhart Truth that because there has been so much industry along the river for so many years, oil sometimes still leeches out of the ground.

The fire department cleaned the most recent slick up quickly. It was about 40 by 15 feet wide.
