Officer struck by teenage driver at intersection of Michigan and Sample

An officer from the South Bend Police Dept. was involved in a crash Saturday night after being hit by a teenage driver.

Quinton Burnett, 19, was heading north on Michigan St. when his breaks locked up and prevented him from stopping. Burnett continued through the intersection with Sample St. and struck Patrolman Nathan Gates as he was heading east.
