For the third straight year, Notre Dame Dean of Science Greg Crawford has crossed the finish line in his 3,200 mile trek across the country.

It's all to raise awareness and funding for a deadly childhood disease, Niemann-Pick Type C.

Niemann-Pick is a fatal disorder that took the lives of three of former Notre Dame Football coaching great, Ara Parseghian's grandchildren.

In recent years Notre Dame joined forces with world renowned researchers looking for a cure and the Road to Discovery blossomed out of that.

The Dean started his ride in Boston on May 21 by dipping his rear tire into the Atlantic Ocean with Ara Parseghian.

This weekend, he dipped his tire in the Pacific Ocean with Ara's parents, Cindy and Mike, at the finish line at Pebble Beach.

He told us his journey was rough, even had a broken bike, but a visit from two little girls with Nieman-Pick in Carson City. They were holding a Notre Dame banner, and he took the time to ride with them which made it all worth it.
