One Notre Dame usher travels more than 14 hours to volunteer at every home game.

Paul Matthew hails from Ottawa, Ontario and has been volunteering since 2002.

He started out coming to just one game a year, but last season decided to take on the gig full-time.

"There are people who, given the opportunity, would love to do what I do," Matthew said.

He starts his 14-hour journey by driving three hours from Ottawa to Syracuse, New York.

Then, Matthew hops on a train that takes him to South Bend in 11 hours.

It makes for a long day of travel, but Matthew says he's happy to make the trip every other weekend.

"What keeps me coming back is when I see the expression on people's face when I say 'Welcome to Notre Dame,'" he said. "And, they get a kick out of that. And, then it's driven home when people say you have the best job in the world."

Matthew says it's been invigorating watching the Irish winning streak up close.

He's stationed in the north end zone, with a good view of the field.

"I cheer, but then i have to make sure the people behind me aren't rushing on the field," Matthew said. "So, you just got to balance it. So, you cheer for a fraction of a second and then you realize, I have a job to do."

He says he plans to keep coming back as an usher for many kickoffs to come.
