South Bend, Ind. Notre Dame students helped make their community a little cleaner Saturday afternoon.
Over four dozen Notre Dame engineering students met up Saturday at the Broadway Christian Parish to kick off the event. The group worked to clear brush along Bowman Creek and Ravina Park, in the southeastern part of South Bend.
Saturday's event was part of a two-part program of engineering leadership and community engagement.
“The South Bend community is very important to Notre Dame and we want to make sure the community understands that,” says Peter Kilpatrick the Dean of the College of Engineering. “We're going to remove the fear factor of people walking along the creek because there won’t be any place for people to hide.”
This is the first year for the program.
