Notre Dame students raised money for cancer Thursday

Over at Notre Dame, students spent Thursday raising awareness and money for cancer research.

They held a bake sale and "Cancer Sucks" t-shirt sale at LaFortune Student Center Thursday afternoon.

All of the profits help support Notre Dame's annual Relay for Life Event. Students are hoping to raise $175,000 this year.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on April 12 at the Compton Family Ice Arena, and the entire community is invited.

“This is an event to celebrate all the money we raised,” says Notre Dame students Erika Wallace and Andrea Romeros. “It's a way to commemorate everyone who's fought, brings everyone together. It sends a message that university is working towards finding a cure to cancer.”

If students reach their fundraising goal this year, it means Notre Dame will have contributed $1 million to Relay for Life over the past nine years.
