Notre Dame alum is Olympic flag bearer

Two-time Olympic fencing champion and Notre Dame alum Mariel Zagunis is going to be carrying the flag during the opening ceremony Friday night.

Team USA members voted her to lead American athletes through the Olympic stadium on Friday.

Zagunis says she's in shock about the whole thing.

"I'm just so thrilled and so honored to have this opportunity to represent team USA and to just lead everybody into the opening of the games,” she said.

Zagunis became the first American fencer to win Olympic gold in 100 years at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
