The IURC approved new rules on Friday standardizing how utility companies trim trees.
Among the rules, utility companies must give property owners at least two weeks notice before doing any trimming.
They won't be able to top trees or trim more than 25 percent of trees without permission except in emergencies.
Companies must clean up debris left behind from utility maintenance within three days.
They also drafted more detailed rules for resolving disputes.
