New moped ordinance put into place Tuesday

South Bend, Ind. There are a few more regulations for mopeds around South Bend. The city's new amended ordinance went into effect Tuesday.

The Common Council voted in favor amending a past ordinance in July. Moped drivers must register with the Police Department every year, under the new measure.

The first time, it will cost $20, but only $15 each year after that. Council members say the amendment will improve public safety.
