After a long and trying search to fill the position of South Bend Police Chief, a decision has been made and the candidate will be sworn in this Wednesday.
Ronald Teachman was selected in December to take charge of the South Bend Police Dept. He spent 34 years working for the police department in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and the last 18 months overseas as a law enforcement consultant in Tajikistan.
Teachman will receive a $10,000 pay increase over South Bend’s last permanent chief, officials say his salary will be $90,000 a year.
