The American Heart Association hopes you'll break out the tennis shows on April 3. The organization is holding National Walking Day.
Nataional Walking Day is a way the organization plans to encourage people to develop healthier lifestyles.
The group organized the day after more and more adults spend time at work or behind a desk than ever before. As a side effect, as a nation, we are becoming more inactive. The group is worried by that trend, since physical inactivity doubles the risk of heart disease.
The Association hopes National Walking Day will help unite co-workers. The group wants employees to wear sneakers to work and take at least 30 minutes out of their day to walk.
To sign up yourself, or the company you work, just visit heart.org/nationalwalkingday.com. Another perk, signing up is free.
