Kids throughout Elkhart County took a stand Saturday, literally.
Area youth took to the curb with lemonade stands as part of National Lemonade Day. It's a nationwide movement teaching kids how to start and operate their own businesses.
Those participating spent the last few months making business plans. The document contained info like how much to charge per glass. The program allows kids to keep any money they earn, but most chose to give back instead.
National Lemonade Day originated in 2007 and is held the first Sunday in May. Around a thousand kids were set to participate in Elkhart County. Close to a million kids take part nationally.
