National Anthem Day Celebration held at Wakarusa Elementary School

Students at Wakarusa Elementary School kicked off their day with an extra dose of Patriotism. Class after class made their way into the school's gym to take part in the National Anthem Day Celebration.

September 14 is the exact day that Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the Star Spangled Banner. And for the past five years, this school has been marking the occasion with a musical presentation for the community.

“It’s really awesome to see the students get really excited to show that and invite their families,” said Vocal Music Teacher Shawn Skaggs.

“It means that we have to be happy for this country because not every country has the ability to do this,” said student Quinten Hunsberger.

Students also honored the Servicemen and Women in the crowd for all that they've done for our country.
