GOSHEN - A teenager charged with murder could stand trial in the next three weeks, after a judge denied a motion for a continuance.
Jesus Macedo-Perez, 16, of Elkhart, was in the Elkhart Circuit Court on Thursday for a hearing.

Macedo-Perez’s attorney said he needed more time to talk with witnesses and gather evidence to use during the trial. However, that request was denied.
Macedo-Perez faces a murder charge for his involvement in a fatal drive-by shooting in Elkhart on June 22.
Baxton Barhams was wounded during the shooting. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital and pronounced dead.
Macedo-Perez was arrested the next morning and charged June 26.
He’ll be back in court on Nov. 7.
