A motorcyclist was killed Sunday following a crash with a car in Elkhart County.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. on County Road 13 near U.S. 20.

Witnesses told police the motorcycle was traveling northbound on County Road 13 at a high rate of speed when it turned east on U.S. 20, and failed to negotiate a curve, crossing the center line.

A 2001 Dodge Neon was traveling west on U.S. 20 and was struck by the motorcycle.

42-year-old Jason Espinoza from Elkhart was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Dodge, 22-year-old Miranda Rosezelle, of Elkhart, suffered minor injuries.

Elkhart County Police believe speed contributed to the crash.
