ELKHART, Ind.--- A fallen soldier from Elkhart is still remembered, months after his death.

Today, dozens gathered for the first-ever "Jesse’s Warrior’s Mission" motorcycle ride in honor of sergeant Jesse Williams.

US Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was among the bikers.

She started off the fundraiser with remarks about how we should honor the sacrifice of soldiers like Jesse Williams.

“He won't be forgotten,” said Walorski. “Never forgotten, always remembered, and never forgotten. True American hero, our hometown hero.”

Jesse was killed last December when his helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan.

That's when his family started "Jesse’s Warrior’s," an organization that honors deployed vets around the world.

Today's motorcycle ride was one of the group's first events.

Jesse's Warrior’s is designing "Angel-Versary" cards to send to the families of fallen heroes.

Williams' family said they found support in the cards they received in the days and months after his death.
