MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Mishawaka firefighter facing neglect of a dependent, intimidation and resisting police charges will avoid jail time after a plea agreement on Monday.
As part of the agreement, the neglect of a dependent charge was dropped against Eric Hazen. He received a year in jail for both the intimidation and resisting law enforcement charges.
Both of those sentences were suspended.
Hazen was arrested in September when St. Joseph county police were called for a welfare check on his six year-old son.
The intimidation and resisting law enforcement charges came after Hazen scuffled with officers while he was being arrested.
