Michiana mayors announce Boy Scout fundraising luncheon

The leaders of two Michiana cities came together today to show their support for the Boy Scouts of America.

Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter and Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore held a news conference this morning to announce their upcoming annual fundraising luncheon.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood will also be co-hosting the scouting event next week.

The yearly luncheon raises thousands of dollars for the Lasalle Council Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scout troop has served more than 8,000 young people across Michiana for the past seven years.

The luncheon will take place next Tuesday, May 7 at noon at the Hilton Garden Inn in South Bend.

“Scouting is just a way to learn how to be a better person, how to work with others, how to be prepared for life,” said Mayor Mark Senter.

Holy Cross College was chosen to receive this year's Good Turn Award for providing support, service and leadership to the future leaders of our community.
