Michiana businesses warned about fake invoices

Michiana businesses need to be on the lookout. The Better Business Bureau says they're being deceived by fake invoices.

They're coming from American Yellow Corporation based out of Dallas, Texas.

It looks like a statement for online advertising, and it even says if it isn't paid, it will be turned over to a third party for collection.

But according to Dreama Jensen from the BBB, it is a solicitation, not a bill.

“This is not particularly a scam. It's just something that's misleading. There is such an organization out there that's doing this,” Jensen said. “And so the point is, read all of the fine print. In fact when you get something like this, and you don't recognize it right away, look at the fine print first. The big black print is what they want you to see."

The BBB has taken phone calls from businesses who have received these in St. Joseph, Elkhart and Kosciusko counties.
