SOUTH BEND Some of Michiana's most talented, young artists will be honored by a prestigious group at Carnegie Hall.
Area 7th-12th grade students, entered a wide range of art projects at the South Bend Museum of Art in January.
Winners at the regional level went on to compete against thousands of young artists across the country in New York. More than 230,000 pieces of art were submitted and just 1,800 ambitious students were selected as gold medal winners, 19 of which are from Michiana.
In its 91 years of existence, the Awards program has identified some of the nation's greatest visionaries, including Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Sylvia Plath.
