Two Warsaw men are behind bars for their alleged involvement in a recent string of home burglaries.
The first arrest was made Friday, Jan. 11 after Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at around 1:15 p.m. in the 8000-block of Syracuse/Webster Rd. in Syracuse.
When the officers arrived, they found the suspect, Corey Ritchie, 24, caught and captured by family members of the homeowners.
Police arrested Ritchie on preliminary felony burglary charges after finding the items reported stolen from the home.
The second arrest came about when K.C.S.D officers received information that led them to a man believed to be Ritchie’s partner in crime. On Saturday, police arrested Zackery Hernandez, 23, at his home on Arthur St. in Warsaw for his connection to at least one other residential break in. Officers charged Hernandez with felony burglary and theft.
Detectives say the two men were involved in three known residential burglaries in the previous two months.
Bond was set at $50,000 for Ritchie, and $10,000 for Hernandez as the investigation continues by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies.
