It was a race against the clock Monday as last minute shoppers tried to get gifts before stores closed for the holidays.

Over at Meijer in Mishawaka, plenty of people were making their way down the aisles to find that final thing on their Christmas list.

Store staff says Monday is far less chaotic than Black Friday, but that they've seen a steady number of customers throughout the day.

“I have people coming in and I was out of town last week so I didn't shop ahead,” said shopper Sue Daily.

The smart ones come in at 7:30 in the morning on Christmas Eve, good selection, not too busy. You can get in and out,” said Rick Zeef, Meijer store director.

And if you still have some things to pick up, Meijer will be open until 7 tonight.
