Man found in connection with Wednesday's home invasion in Berrien County

A two-day manhunt is over Thursday night with the arrest of a suspect involved in a home invasion in Galien Township.

Johnnathan Davis, 39, of Berrien County is facing home invasion and felony firearm charges, after he allegedly broke into a home in the 4600 block of Kinne Road around 10:15 Wednesday morning. Police say an animal control officer living there arrived home to find the suspect inside carrying stolen property.

The officer confronted Davis, who tried to flee the scene in his vehicle, but was stopped when the homeowner fired a shot into his rear tire. The suspect then took-off on foot instead into the cornfield and nearby woods.

Eleven different agencies worked throughout the night and into a good part of Thursday searching the area for Davis, and finally tracked him down after getting a tip that he was hiding out at a home in 1000 block of Bowman in South Bend.

Davis, who was already on parole for a home invasion charge, is now being held in the St. Joseph County Jail awaiting extradition to Berrien County.
